The classroom is equipped with a range of technical innovations and state-of-the-art digital teaching tools and is suitable for both offline and online teaching. Thanks to these innovations, students can follow lectures and presentations in real time from a distance and without physical limitations. Moreover, the visual and audio-visual content displayed on the interactive whiteboard is available for later viewing as well.

‘This classroom helps us to expand relations with foreign higher education institutions, as the digital solutions make it possible for students to participate in live courses at a partner institution,’ emphasised Dr István Zupkó, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Szeged at the inauguration ceremony. ‘It has everything we expect from a teaching and conference room in the 21st century. I am convinced that this development has not only enabled us to catch up in terms of teaching technology, but that our students can also gain more knowledge they can use in the course of their work in the future. ‘

‘Digitalisation is not a goal, but a means,’ pointed out Dr Klára András, Director of Human Resources at Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC in her speech. ‘Stability makes the present secure, innovation ensures the future. Innovation is important for us even outside the boundaries of a pharmaceutical company. We also support the next generation. We know that to guarantee the future, cooperation, such as this one between our company and the University of Szeged are important,’ said Dr Klára András, who, thanks to the state-of-the-art technical facilities, attended the inauguration ceremony online.

Speaking in a video clip, Tamás Spaits, Head of the Analytical Development Laboratory of the Körmend Plant of Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC, shared his thoughts and praised the research and academic cooperation between the university and Egis.

The event concluded with a technical presentation, Zsuzsanna Barta-Lévai, International Digital Patient Solutions Manager at Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC talked about the digitalisation trends in the pharmaceutical industry. The students were also given an insight into the tasks and challenges faced by future pharmacists to keep their knowledge fresh and up to date.

The University of Szeged and Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC are linked by several joint projects. In the framework of their cooperation, University of Szeged is the first university not based in Budapest to launch the Pharmaceutical Industry from A to Z course, in which Egis professionals give presentations and introduce students to the different processes of pharmaceutical production. Besides, experts of the University of Szeged and Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC worked together with several consortium partners on the recently completed GINOP-2.2.1. programme.

The construction of the state-of-the-art classroom at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Szeged represented another stage in the series of joint projects.
