The competition of the Hungarian Society of Natural Sciences, supported traditionally by Egis, involves all Hungarian-speaking educational institutions in the Carpathian Basin.

This year, due to the pandemic, the long-established scientific society had to adjust the well-established framework of the contest.

The travel restrictions and social distancing led the organizers to come up with a new concept: instead of paper-based tests and live oral rounds, this time all parts of the competition went online. Tests were to be completed digitally and the oral rounds took place via videoconference. The opening and the announcement of results were moved online as well, the certificates and rewards were sent out via post.

The Society plans to give the Hevesy medal to the category winners and their teachers in person at the award ceremony of the Society’s jubilee assembly.
