The red-black team of the Vas county town and one of the largest Hungarian pharmaceutical companies have extended their cooperation for another year. The team will continue to play under the name Egis Körmend in the championship.

The agreement was signed by Csaba Poroszlai, CEO of Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC, and László Gál, the club’s managing director. According to the announcement, the legendary team will continue to play as Egis Körmend in the current season as well. As it is known, Egis has had many ties to Körmend for decades, being a major company not only in the town but also in the region. As one of the largest employers in the area, the pharmaceutical company has been continuously modernizing its plant in Körmend and supported numerous local initiatives, contributing to Körmend’s development with its own resources.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to play as Egis Körmend again this year. Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC has been the naming partner of our team for a decade now,” said László Gál, the new managing director of Egis Körmend. “We hope that this close relationship between the two parties will continue in the upcoming years as well. We will do our best to further enhance the reputation of the Egis Körmend team in the future. Go Egis, go Körmend!”

“Our cooperation started in 2014, and this decade has proved that we have found a reliable partner in each other,” said Csaba Poroszlai, CEO of Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC. “We have experienced many great moments together: such as the cup victory in 2016, the Hungarian championship final in 2022, when the team finished the season with a silver medal, and the next year, when they finished the championship with a bronze medal. This year marks the 55th anniversary of our Körmend plant, where we have carried out numerous large scale investments in recent years. All this shows that we are at home in Körmend, and the community, success, and love for sports of the people living here are important to us.”

To honor the announcement of the cooperation, István Király, the head of Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC’s Körmend site, performed the ceremonial tip-off at the beginning of the game against DEAC.
