The aim of the event, organised for the second time by the residential community of the Gellérthegy district in Újbuda, Budapest, was to draw attention to the cultural and artistic values in the Ménesi út area. This year, besides the former mansion of the Hungarian writer Ferenc Karinthy and the atelier of the painter Pál C Molnár, the garden of the attractive building at 55 Ménesi út was also open to the public. The stylish mansion was built for Sándor Balla, the founder of our company’s predecessor “Dr. Wander Pharmaceuticals and Nutriments Ltd".

On behalf of our company dr. Györgyné Ujfalussy, the Director of Government Relations unveiled the memorial plaque honouring Sándor Balla, who had an outstanding career and whose attitude and principles still stand as an example.  The pharmacists from Lugos set up a modern, up-to-date factory and developed it into a great company. Though a highly respected person, historic events forced him to give up his property and leave the country. However, the innovative spirit, open-mindedness, commitment to progress and sense of responsibility that characterised his work still define our company’s values.

The mayor of Újbuda, dr Imre László emphasized the importance of pharmacy to society, reminiscing recent events when pharmaceutical achievements helped us to recover from the pandemic.

The deputy mayor Richárd Barabás praised community initiatives such as the one organized by the locals and residents of Ménesi út, he also pointed out that these local events promote and make long forgotten cultural values like the Balla villa visible again.
