Young inventor receives Egis award

In the 2021/2022 school year, the Hungarian Association for Innovation launched its competition for secondary school students for the 31st time. The Association recognized not only young innovators, but the most successful innovative schools and exceptionally innovative secondary school teachers were awarded too. Our company has been supporting the Scientific and Innovation Talent Recruitment Contest for Youth for decades.

A robot submarine to assess water quality, a new system to illuminate a light microscope, a wireless hit indicator (épée) and photochemical equipment for ligand-based labelling of proteins – these are just some of the ten award-winning works, elected by the jury from this year’s fifty-three entries.
The Minister of Culture and Innovation János Csák presented the awards in the Ceremonial Hall of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Promoting science and encouraging young talents is highly important for Egis. We believe that innovation is crucial for the development of our industry. That is why we also support this competition for secondary school students. Each year we award a special prize to the project closest in its subject to the activities of our company and which can make a long-term contribution to our mission of helping more people live healthy, long lives. 
This year, the Egis award went to László Benedek Barna, student of the Budapesti Szent István Gimnázium. His UV- Covbel entry, an  equipment for ligand-based photochemical labelling of proteins can be a useful asset in physiological and pharmaceutical research. 
For the first time, teachers and educational institutions with an innovative spirit were recognised alongside students: eight teachers and eight institutions were awarded as well.
